  • Originaire d'une noble famille iranienne.- Il est un des premiers à traduire en arabe des textes littéraires des civilisations indienne et iranienne.- Il s'appelait Rōzbih, en embrassant l'Islam il prit le nom de ʿAbd Allāh.- Secrétaire de chancellerie pour le calife ʿabbāside al-Mansūr. - Un de ses principaux travaux est la traduction des fables indiennes de Bidpai.- Mis à mort par le gouverneur de Baṣra (Iraq).- Il a écrit des traités politiques.- Il défendait la subordination de la šarīʿa à l'autorité politique

  • كاتب، شاعر، أحد النقلة من اللسان الفارسي إلى العربي، كان مجوسيا وأسلم على يد عيسى بن علي، كان يكنى أبا عمرو فلما أسلم اكتنى بأبي محمد.- صدر أمر من الخليفة أبو جعفر المنصور بقتله، ﻷنه كتب عهدًا ﻷمان عبد الله بن علي عم أبي جعفر المنصور، احتاط فيه احتياطًا أحفظ المنصور. وقد اختلف في طريقة قتله، فيقول الجهشياري أن سفيان بن معاوية قتله بتقطيع أعضائه، ثم حرقه، ويقول اﻷشعري القمي أن ابن المقفع لما علم خبر اﻷمر بقتله، سارع بقتل نفسحه خنقًا أو بشرب السم

Biography

  • He originally came from a noble Iranian family.- He is one of the first translators of Indian and Iranian literature into Arabic.- He was named Rōzbih.- After converting to Islam, he adopted the name of ʿAbd Allāh.- He was the secretary of the Abassid Caliph al-Manṣūr.- Among his main works is the translation of the Indian fables of Bidpai.- It is said that he was removed by the the caliph al-Manṣūr and tortured until death by the governor of Baṣra for political reasons.- He wrote political treaties.- He advocated the subordination of the šarīʿa to political authority

لدي شك كبير أن تاريخ وفاة ابن المقفع هو 139 هـ وذلك ﻷنه قتل في فتنة خروج عبد الله بن علي على ابن أخيه أبي جعفر المنصور وادعائه الخلافة، وقد كانت هذه الفتنة في سنة 137 هـ فور تولي المنصور الخلافة سنة 136 هـ، وحين تخفى عبد الله بن علي في البصرة، سعى أخوه عيسى بن علي ﻷخذ اﻷمان له من المنصور، وكان ابن المقفع هو كاتب اﻷمان الذي تحرر في عام 139 هــ، ولم يرض المنصور عن صيغة ابن المقفع فأنفذ أمرا بقتله. انظر تجارب اﻷمم والمقالات والفرق للأشعري القمي
