  • تلقى تعليمه من خلال حضور بعض الدروس الدينية في الجامع الأزهر وجامع الحسين، وكذلك من خلال حضور مجالس العلم في منازل بعض العلماء. عمل مع والده بالتجارة من خلال بعض الأعمال الكتابية في محل تجارته ومخبزه بالجمالية بالقاهرة، ثم تفرغ لتجارة الكتب عام 1940. كان عضوًا في الاتحاد المصري العام لدور النشر والمكتبات
