The original book is a collection that was concluded by al-Burzulī from earlier books of legal decisions (fatāwā) for ibn Ḥazm, ibn al-Ḥāǧǧ, and the book of al-Ḥāwī for ibn ʿabd al-Nūr. Al-Wanšarīsī followed the usual arrangement style of the fatāwā collectors; starting with the chapters on purity (ṭahāra), acts of worship (ʿibādāt), social transactions (muʿāmalāt), marriage, divorce, then the financial transactions (buyūʿ), etc. He added a preface on the legal issues of the fatwā, and an appendix on the prayers, breaching, healing, and otherṃiscellaneousmiscelaneous topics.
