كتاب حاول فيه المؤلف تعيين الصلاة الوسطى في قوله تعالى: "حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَىٰ وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ قَانِتِينَ"، هل هي صلاة العصر أم صلاة الصبح، وذلك بعد مناقشة دارت بينه وبين أحد فقهاء الشافعية في مدينة حلب بالشام. وقد رجح المؤلف أنها صلاة العصر، جامعًا في هذا الكتاب كل ما ورد من النصوص الصحيحة التي تدل على صحة مذهبه، مبينًا ما لصلاة العصر من فضل، ليكون ذلك ترجيحًا تأكيدًا في معنى هذا الفضل، ثم ذكر مذاهب اﻷئمة الأربعة في هذا الموضوع، كل ذلك بكلام جزل، سالكًا فيه سبيل النصفة والعدل، بعيدًا عن طريق التعصب والميل.

Summary

A treatise in which the author attempt to determine and verify what's meant by "the middle prayer" mentioned in the Qurʾān. It was a response to one of the author's contemporary jurists in Aleppo who said that the middle prayer is "al-Faǧr prayer". The author attempted to prove that it is actually "al'ʿaṣr prayer" by collecting the authentic narration and the juristic inferences from those narrations and Qur'anic verses. He then discussed the opinions of the four Islamic Juristic Schools in that issue.
