يعتبر هذا الكتاب استقصاء وتسجيل تاريخي لجميع الفرق والاتجاهات الفكرية التي شهدتها الساحة الإسلامية منذ وفاة النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم وحتى بدايات القرن الثالث الهجري. يحتوي الكتاب على مجموعة من المقالات الخاصة بأفكار بعض الفرق الإسلامية. كما يشتمل على كثير من الردود على الشيعة، والخوارج، والمرجئة، والمعتزلة. وقد كان الكتاب يتألف في الأصل من ثلاثة كتب: كتاب المقالات، وكتاب في دقيق الكلام، وكتاب في الأسماء والصفات. إلا أن الأشعري بنفسه ضمهم في كتاب واحد وقد استوعب جميع اختلافهم ومقالاتهم. |
| Summary |
This book is a detailed historical and theological investigation of the different sects that originated in the Islamic society since the death of the prophet up until the early third hijri century. The book documents many of the treatises presented by the main Islamic sects, as well as refutations to the ideology of the Shiites, Mutazilites, Kharijites, and Murjiites. The book originally consisted of three different books: the book of treatises (kitaḇ al-maqālāt), a book on the fine theological matters (kitāb fī daqīq al-kalām), and a book on the Names and Attributes (of God) (kitāb fī al-asmāʾ wa al-ṣifāt), but al-Ašʿarī himself eventually combined them in one book. |
