Summary

Summary

Avicenna dedicated this epistle to the prince Nōḥ ibn Manṣūr al-Sāmānī. In this epistle, he proved the existence of the faculties of the soul and classified them. He also explained every faculty separately. In addition to explaining the exterior and interior senses, he proved that human reason is an essence. Finally, he proved that there is a collective reason which exists in a form of essence that is separate from any material attachments, and which acts as a source for every human reason.
