الكتاب عبارة عن فهرست جامع لتراجم السادة الحنفية، بداية من إمام المذهب أبو حنيفة النعمان، حتى العصر الذي عاش فيه المؤلف. وقد استوفى فيه أخبارهم وفضائلهم ومناقبهم، وذكر مؤلفاتهم ومصنفاتهم، ومحاسن أشعارهم، ونوادر أخبارهم، وغير ذلك. وقد استعان المؤلف ببعض الكتب المعتبرة مثل تاريخ الخطيب البغدادي، وتاريخ ابن خلكان، وابن كثير، والدرر الكامنة للحافظ بن حجر، وغير ذلك من كتب التراجم. وقد رتبه على حروف المعجم، وأضاف في آخره ملحقًا بالكنى واﻷنساب واﻷبناء. |
| Summary |
This book is a biographical dictionary for the jurists of the Ḥanafī school, starting with abū Ḥanīfa al-Nuʿmān, the founder of the school, up to the jurists of the author's time. The author reported the biographees' life, works, virtues, and poetry. He exploited many of the prominent historical works; such as the history of al-Ḫaṭīb al-Baġdādī, the history of ibn Ḫillikān, ibn Kaṯīr, and Al-durar al-kāmina of ibn Ḥaǧar al-ʿAsqalānī. The book is structured in a lexical order. |

يعد العمل من أجمع كتب التراث في تراجم الحنفية، وقد تجاوز عدد التراجم الثلاثة آلاف وأربعمائة ترجمة. تم التأليف بمدينة فوة بشمال مصر ثم انتقل إلى القسطنطينية وقدمه إلى السلطان مراد بن سليم الثاني، وكوفئ عليه بقضاء مدينة قونية |
